2010 Battle of the Badges Law Enforcement Race
Gentlemen...Start your engines!!! Missouri Law Enforcement Officers will be rolling out on Missouri State Fair Speedway's Historic Half Mile for the first annual Battle of the Badges Law Enforcement Race on Friday, August 6, 2010 in Sedalia, Missouri.
2010 represents the 25th year that Missouri Law Enforcement Officers have supported Special Olympics through their annual Law Enforcement Torch Run. This year the Missouri State Fair Speedway is proud to join their worthy cause by promoting this brand new, sure to be exciting, fun filled event. Special Olympics provide year round sports training and competition programs for the more than 15,000 Missouri athletes across the state.
This Main Feature Race will host Missouri's finest Law Enforcement Officers from throughout the state on the Missouri State Fair Speedway's Historic 1/2 Mile Dirt Track. The officers will be driving late model Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor cars. Over the last 20 years, 70 percent of all police cars used in the United States have been the Ford Crown Victoria. Each car will display a red or blue "Kojak" type light to add to the excitement. Along with the Law Enforcement Race rolling out on the Historic Half Mile track will be the 900 hp Subway Late Models and the W-K Chevrolet Pro Modified Stock Cars. These two classes produce some of the most exciting and competitive racing on dirt tracks throughout America.
Law Enforcement Drivers and their pit crews are encouraged to take advantage of a special Test and Tune at 6:00 pm to make necessary adjustments to their car and get a feel for the track. The evening will start with group hot laps. Drivers will take a luck of the draw to determine the line up for the heat races. Straight up racing will set the main feature except for the top six cars will compete in a "Dash for Cash" for the Special Olympics. Those six cars will set the six first places for the feature.
Trophies will be given for the following...Feature Winner, Second Place, The Hard Charger, Best Looking Race Car, Farthest Distance Traveled in Missouri, and The Most VIP Tickets Sold for the race.
Through car sponsorships and donations, our goal is to raise $50,000 to help keep smiles on those Olympian faces. So mark your calendars and come participate in an exciting night of racing to benefit a great cause!
